How it all started

My passion for photography began at a young age. I grew up in the 90s before digital photography was really even a thing. My father worked at a graphic design studio which gave me access to early versions of software I use today like Adobe Photoshop. Occasionally, he would pass his old digital cameras down to me since he always said I had a talent for taking photos.

In 2009 I attended Kendall College of Art & Design to study graphic design and it was during that time when I really started to take my photography more seriously. In addition to my design classes I was lucky enough to study, under an incredible portrait photographer shooting weddings, for almost two years. I learned all the stuff they don’t teach you in school and it was at this time I decided to embark on the journey of becoming a freelance photographer.

After college I moved back to the east side of Michigan where I landed a job working for a National real estate listing photography company. I learned the tricks of the trade and invested heavily in quality equipment. By the end of the year I had shot over 300 houses and I was voted photographer of the month on multiple occasions.

In 2014 I interviewed for a position with a local photography studio that operated out of Canterbury Village in Lake Orion, MI. I was happy to receive the job and worked my way up to primary photographer. I have been shooting as part of MyPic Photography ever since. During this time I also worked for another studio shooting youth sports photography. Occasionally, I still shoot for MVP Youth Sports Photography.

In 2018 I landed a full-time a job with a National Healthcare Company where I was the lead photographer/video producer for several years. While working at Centria, I was able to hone my craft and create some my best work. I shot everything from events, client success stories, training videos and headshots to branded lifestyle shoots where we actually hired talent and rented out shooting locations.
